Nor-Am Update: Read Leads AST finishing 40th Overall in Final Day of Racing
(November 26, 2013) - Today wrapped up the Men's Technical Nor-Am Cup Race Series in Loveland Co, and had four top 10 results from Canadians.
Yesterday's victor Jonathan Norbotten (NOR) captured gold again, but was only seperated by hundreths from second place finisher David Chodounsky (USA) and Canada's Michael Janyk, who had his second consecutive day on the podium.
Alberta Ski Team (AST) top finisher was Kevyn Read in 40th, who again cut his start positon in half. Tony Naciuk straddled the third gate on the first run and did not finish. "Both guys on the second run came off the start with all out attack. This worked well for Kevyn, but unfortunately Jeff went out on the pitch" AST Men's Head Coach Richard Jagger reported after the race. "Overall I felt it was a solid start to the season against a deep and large Nor-Am field", added Jagger.
The three men in Colorado will have a few days to rest and train until the rest of the team arrives. Up coming competitions for the men's AST will be:
Loveland GS/SL December 2 - 5
Loveland GS/SL December 7 - 8
Copper Mt. Speed Series December 9 - 15
Vail GS/SL December 17 -20
Panorama GS December 22 - 23
