Alpine Insurance and Alberta Alpine Sign Three-Year Partnership Agreement
CANMORE, Alberta (June 14, 2012)- More than 1,400 children aged 4 -11 from across Alberta will have the opportunity to learn and foster a love for alpine ski racing thanks to the three-year agreement signed today between Alpine Insurance, one of Alberta's largest independent insurance brokers, and Alberta Alpine. The newly created Alpine Insurance Race Series will have two distinct categories. The Nancy Greene Ski League (NGSL), the standard for young athletes across the country, will be open to skiers aged 4 - 9, whereas the U12 category will be for athletes 10 - 11 years of age. "This is a very exciting day for ski racing in Alberta. Alpine Insurance's support is tremendous. As a leader in the insurance business in Alberta, it's great to see the commitment they're showing in supporting our province's youth," said Adam Hull, president of Alberta Alpine. The program focuses on ski racing fundamentals based on the Long Term Athlete Development model, which provides the building blocks for young racers such as agility, balance, coordination, speed and life-long passion for alpine skiing. The series will include 50 event days across the province, teaching ski racing fundamentals to the next generation of Alberta's ski racing champions. Iconic slopes such as Lake Louise, Panorama, Sunshine, Norquay, Rabbit Hill, Snow Valley, Sunridge, Edmonton Ski Club, Marmot Basin and Fort McMurray will all host Alpine Insurance events during the 2012/2013 season.
