Alberta Ski Team Member from 2006 to 2009
1. What club(s) did you ski with? I skied for the Banff Alpine Racers since I could walk.
2. Who were some of your coaches? Wade Rettie, Sarah Hornes, Duane Baird, Richard Jagger, Brett Zagozewski, Eric Olivier.
3. Highlight of your career with the provincial team? A clutch performance at National Championships Whistler 2008, I placed 3rd and qualified for Juniors Worlds.
4. Highlight of your ski racing career? April 2009, I won a GS in Panorama 1 month after returning to snow from a broken ankle. It gave me the confidence to rip for the rest of the season and eventually end up in college the following fall.
5. Who were some of your teammates? Cam Brewington, Travis Dawson, Jeff Crompton, Cam Stuart, Michael Mackie, Sean Alexander, Erik Read, Taylor Wronko, Brandon Mudryk, Andy Trow, Cody Pederson, Tristan Tafel, Brady Leman, Brett Haney, Chris Scheele.
6. Do you have any tips you’d like to pass on to young racers? Be patient, and always set yourself up for success by being prepared.
7. What are you doing now? Are you still involved with ski racing? How? I am currently in my Junior (3rd) year at Montana State University in pursuit of a major in Business Finance. I have a scholarship for NCAA Alpine Ski Racing.
8. Can you tell us a little about how ski racing has contributed to your success in life and work? Through ski racing I have acquired many skills to help me be successful in college and other parts of my life. One that stands out is work ethic. It takes a lot of effort and preparation to even be a contender in the ski racing world and I believe those habits are now applying to my academics and proving successful. Ski racing has also taught me to have fun and be relaxed because when I am in this state I perform my best.
